Eventet i korthet

Event brief
If you live in a country like Sweden, it’s easy to take electricity and lighting a lamp whenever you want to for granted but did you know that every fourth person on earth doesn’t have access to electricity? That’s more than 1.5 billion people. One and a half billion.

Therefore, we are especially proud that for two years in a row have had the opportunity to work together with E.ON and their unique project ”Meet the Sun” around Sweden. With this campaign E.ON. wanted in fun way make people pay more attention to the fact that solar and wind energy is a much better choice for the environment, while at the same time helping to donate solar lamps to Mwanza in Tanzania so that more school children will have the opportunity to do their homework in the evening, and realizing their dreams by getting an education.

The idea of the campaign was to get visitors to take a photo inside a custom-built dome that looked like a sun and then share their image on social media with the hashtag #mötsolen (#meetthesun). For every picture that was shared with this hashtag E.ON donated a solar lamp in cooperation with the organization GIVE WATTS.

Scope of services
What we did was that we placed our Open air booth inside the custom-built dome and when the visitor stepped into “the sun” a voice-recording began to play thanks to a sensor that we had placed in the opening. At the end of the recording, the visitor was encouraged to push a big red button placed next to the booth and on the display you could see E.ON’s specially designed interface.

In turn this activated a lamp and a fan that was turned on to simulate solar and wind power while at the same time the booth began taking 3 pictures every 3 seconds. E.ON had also chosen to add a GIF-function which did so that these three images were combined into a short video loop. In addition to solar and wind power, we added a soft filter on all images to make it look more like the sun was shining. This, together with E.ON’s logo and message as an overlay.

When the photo session was done, the visitor got their photo printed directly from the booth in a unique design especially created for E.ON. Afterwards the visitor was welcome to also share the GIF-version of their picture from an external sharing station placed outside the sun. It was done this way to get a much better flow and not stop the line of people wanting to get their picture taken. Either they could choose to share it to their email address or Facebook and if the visitor chose to share their picture by email they received a specially designed email from E.ON.

All images that were taken in the photo booth was automatically uploaded to two places. Partly on a TV screen next to the sharing station and partly online at www.motsolen.se. This website was created by us on the client’s request specifically for this campaign to integrate a live feed online.

This was what we delivered:
– Open air booth

– A custom interface
– Lamp and fan
– GIF-function
– Overlay
– Filter
– External sharing station on top of a branded cube
– TV with slideshow
– Specially designed email
– Created the website www.motsolen.se where a live feed was automatically uploaded.
